A teenage girl was tied up and
raped at gunpoint during a home invasion robbery in West Philadelphia
Wednesday, while her grandmother looked on helplessly.
A
neighbor said that she found the women tied up in their home about 10
a.m. when she became concerned after they did not answer her phone.
Their phone line had been cut and the 13-year-old girl had been raped.
"A black male entered the residence, with his identity concealed,
through an open door," said Michael McCerric of the Philadelphia
police. The women were taken to the hospital, and the grandmother
returned to the house to help with the investigation. "(I) put the
phone down, looked up and there he was standing there with a gun on
us," said the grandmother, who did not want to be identified.
Detectives from the Special Victims Unit said that the suspect was
wearing a scarf on his head and on his face, when he entered the house.
Police said that the man tied the girl and her grandmother, robbed them
and then raped the girl. "I kept trying to tell her not to cry, because
I figured the more she cried, the more she was going to make him mad
and the more he was going to do and she finally stopped crying. You
could tell she was very, very upset. She almost went catatonic, if you
know what I mean," the grandmother said. The woman said that the
torment lasted about an hour. She said that she was afraid he would
kill both of them. "When he finally walked out the door, I was trying
to loosen my hands, and (my granddaughter) kept begging me not to
because he had told us not to dare try to loosen our hands," the
grandmother said. A neighbor found them minutes later and called 911.
But the suspect was gone. Other neighbors wondered if the attack was
connected with some trouble at the house over the weekend. Rosetta
Wright said that a gang of teens has been terrorizing the neighborhood.
She said that she was attacked last September in her front yard. Police
are investigating whether the girl or her grandmother might have known
the rapist. They removed several bags of evidence from the scene,
questioned neighbors and reassured the grandmother, who was still
shaken from the attack. Authorities are looking for a black male in his
20s, wearing a black and white striped shirt, baggy light blue jeans,
and Timberland boots. The suspect was wearing a yellow scarf on his
head and a blue scarf covering his face, according to the police report.

AKRON, Ohio
-- Police said a 13-year-old Akron girl was kidnapped and gang
raped by at least five people -- including a juvenile.
NewsChannel5's Brad Harvey reported that, according to officials, the
girl was walking home from a store recently when the men allegedly
grabbed her, carried her to the basement of a nearby house and forced
her to perform sex acts. The suspects were arraigned Tuesday in
municipal court on several charges. The adults are Mark Conwell
(pictured, right), 18; Darrell Clay (pictured, far right), 18; Jimmy
Schmidt (pictured, below far left), 20; and Davon Debman (pictured,
below left), 20. Each man faces two counts of kidnapping and one count
of rape and is being held on $1 million bond. Police said each suspect
has admitted to his role in the crime.

There is also a 17-year-old juvenile being held in the case. Detectives
said the girl was held in the basement for about an hour. "It had to be
a living hell," said Lt. Gerald Kelley, a juvenile detective with the
Akron Police Department. "I really can't even imagine what it would be
like, especially at that age. It'd just have to be sheer terror."
Meanwhile, Rose Buck, the mother of Schmidt, said there's no way her
son had a hand in the crime. Schmidt's girlfriend agreed. "(His
girlfriend has) been over here since Friday evening with him," Buck
said. "She got here when the police were coming but they were on the
phone for hours before she even got here. Jimmy was walking to the
store. I don't know if they seen him walking back from the store or
what have you, but the girl never identified him as far as I know."

But police
said they are absolutely confident they have the people responsible.
"We don't just sign charges, especially that are this serious in
nature, on just hearsay information or things like that," Kelley said.
"Before we sign charges, we make sure that we have the right person."
The 13-year-old girl was treated at a hospital and released and seems
to be doing well. Police said the girl did not know these men and had
had absolutely no contact with them before. On each of the arrest
reports, police made a notation claiming that each person confessed to
his part in the crime, although they don't give any kind of explanation
for it. Police said they don't know how many people were in the
basement, and more charges could be pending.
Man
Arrested After Child Alleges Rape
12-Year-Old Victim Hid Pregnancy From Mother

ATLANTIC
CITY, N.J. -- A suspect was arrested Wednesday in connection with
an alleged rape that left a 12-year-old girl pregnant.
Korey Johnson, 21, was found hiding under a bed at his mother's home in
Trenton. He was transferred to Atlantic City, where police interviewed
him and placed him in the county jail. On his way into the jail,
Johnson denied committing the crime. Apparently fearing for her safety,
the young girl didn’t tell her mother about the rape right away.
"She wouldn't tell me and I kept asking her because I noticed her
stomach getting big," said Tracey, who didn't want her last name or her
daughter's name to be released.
Tracey knew her daughter was keeping a secret and when she took her to
the hospital to diagnose the sudden weight gain and nausea, she found
out her daughter was nearly six months pregnant. "When she came out
positive for being pregnant, I cried. And I was angry too, real angry,"
said Tracey. That's when the girl told her mother, and later Atlantic
City Police, that a friend had taken her to Johnson's Atlantic City
home last August. The child told investigators Johnson dragged her to
the bathroom and sexually assaulted her. "He, in turn, coerces the one
young lady to have sex with him by force. He uses a knife," said Sgt.
Herbert James. For almost six months, detectives say the 12-year-old
kept silent as she was wracked with morning sickness. "She doesn't say
anything because he had threatened her and said if she told anyone that
he was going to do bodily harm to her," James said.
Repeat
Sex Offender Faces Life In Prison
Convicted Rapist Charged With Raping Again
POSTED: 12:34 p.m. EDT June 17, 2002
AKRON, Ohio
-- A repeat sex offender will get life in prison if prosecutors
get their way.
NewsChannel5's Jonathan Costen reported that Summit County Prosecutor
Sherri Bevan Walsh is fighting to keep Cedric McAdory, 35, off the
streets forever. McAdory, who was once convicted of raping a juvenile,
is charged with rape again, and this time, the alleged victim is 9
years old. A press conference was held Monday giving full details on
why prosecutors believe McAdory should spend the rest of his life
behind bars. Walsh said that McAdory has raped before, and she said
that if he is let out of prison, he'll do it again. A couple of weeks
ago, NewsChannel5 spoke with the mother of the alleged 9-year-old rape
victim. She wanted to warn other parents that if it could happen in her
home, it could happen anywhere. The mother said that she stepped out of
her house for a short while, and that's when McAdory, who her children
think of as an uncle, came into her home and allegedly raped her
9-year-old daughter. Police were able to arrest McAdory about an hour
after the alleged rape because he was spotted in a local hospital's
emergency room fondling himself. Walsh said she will apply a 1997 law
that has a sexually violent predator specification, which could give
him life in prison without parole if convicted. She said she doesn't
know why the law wasn't applied when he was convicted of raping a
15-year-old Barberton, Ohio, girl in 1998. "The last case -- the 1998
conviction for rape where he got four years -- at that time, the
prosecutor's office could have tried to also pursue the sexually
violent predator specification and received a potential -- or mandatory
-- life without parole," Walsh said. "Because at that time, he had
already been convicted at least two times of sex offenses." The
specification has never been used in Summit County; it has only been
used once in Ohio, in 2001. McAdory has faced other sexual charges in
the past, and two of them have been reduced. That does not include the
1998 rape, NewsChannel5 reported.

Subway Station Rape
Homicide Reported At Same Subway Stop

PHILADELPHIA
-- Philadelphia police are searching for two men who raped a
teenager at a subway station.
Video: Teen
Raped By Two Men An 18-year-old girl said two men
attacked her early Thursday morning at the Eighth and Chestnut streets
subway station. The teen told police that shortly before
1 a.m. Thursday she had used the cell phone of one of her assailants
while they were on South Street, and that the men pulled her under a
stairwell and raped her at the entrance to an underground concourse.
Police said the victim said she was also robbed of $60. She
said that when she phoned police from a pay phone after the attack, her
assailants ran away. "It's frightening, scary,
considering there was a killing her a couple months ago. There's not
enough protection around here," said Kelley Brogden, a subway rider. An
arrest has been made in that homicide of a hospital worker. Police
continue to look for the men who allegedly raped the 18-year-old.

Teen Charged With Raping 6-Year-Old
Police Say Four Siblings Witnessed Attack

SMYRNA,
Del. -- A Delaware man is behind bars for allegedly raping a
6-year-old boy.
Police said that the suspect was baby-sitting the child and his
four siblings when the alleged rape took place. Investigators
said that 18-year-old Matthew Bagwell was arrested Tuesday. They said
four small children witnessed the alleged attack. "Very
disturbing that somebody would take advantage of a young child in that
way," said Lt. Norman Wood, of the Smyrna Police Department. Police
said that the details surrounding the sexual assault of the 6-year-old
boy were enough to shock even the most seasoned police officer. "A
6-year-old boy and an 18-year-old male baby sitter that was
baby-sitting the kids while the mother was out of the house," Wood
said. Police said that Bagwell has been charged with
first-degree rape. Investigators said that a 12-year-old
sibling of the alleged victim told the child's mother what happened. "It
apparently happened in the presence of the four brothers and sisters
that were in the room and the 12-year-old told," Wood said. Police
said that Bagwell had been trusted to watch the children in the past
and said that there is no evidence he had harmed the victim before. "The
mother was upset with the fact that, yes, he was a friend, but this
happened to her child and he's where he needs to be right now," Wood
said. If he is convicted, Bagwell could get 15 years to
life in prison. The child was treated at a hospital and sent home.

PEARLAND,
Texas -- Pearland police searched Friday for a man who attacked
and raped a junior high school teacher while she was in her classroom,
authorities said.
The incident happened at about 6:30 a.m. at
Pearland
Junior High School West, 2337 N. Galveston Road, in Pearland.
Investigators told News2Houston that the teacher was sexually assaulted
while inside her portable classroom. Paramedics rushed the teacher to a
local hospital, where her condition is unknown. "We're trying to get as
much information as possible, so that we can provide (it) to the public
and so that we can possibly apprehend this person that did this so that
it doesn't happen again," Pearland Police Officer Rick Fernandez said.
Investigators said that they don't have much more information because
their only witness is in the hospital. The teacher's co-workers and
faculty members said they were shocked by the news. "It is overwhelming
for the teachers to hear of something like this," said Marilyn Bullard,
community director for the Pearland Independent School District. "We're
just in a state of shock because nothing has ever happened like this in
Pearland." District officials said that they have brought counselors to
the school to assistant students who want to talk about what happened
to the teacher. Pearland police have increased security on all of the
district's campuses, authorities said. The incident is under
investigation. This story comes from News2Houston's partnership with

Boys
Repeatedly Rape 5-Year-Old At School
Victim Was Responsible For Keeping Bathroom Clean
POSTED: 7:10 a.m. EDT October 17, 2002
UPDATED: 4:46 p.m. EDT October 17, 2002
CLEVELAND
-- Cleveland police said two boys raped a 5-year-old boy
repeatedly in school, and now the boy's family has filed a $2 million
lawsuit against the school board, NewsChannel5 reported.
They are also asking how the rapes could have continued for so long.
WEWS said the boy, although young, was old enough to know that what a
10-year-old and 11-year-old were doing to him was wrong. Officials said
that last April, the boy was raped repeatedly in the bathroom of
Charles Dickens Elementary School. The boy was in charge of keeping the
bathroom clean. Police said they believe that while the boy worked in
the bathroom, the other two boys, who are fifth-graders, would hold him
and rape him. David Pomerantz, the family's attorney, said the school
should have protected the child. "The desire here is to make sure that
something like this never happens again, and (to also) to send the
strongest message that the schools have to protect our children," he
said. School officials said that once they learned of the sexual
assaults, they started an investigation. Barbara Byrd-Bennett, chief
executive officer of the Cleveland Municipal School District, said
parents shouldn't feel like their children are unsafe in the district's
buildings. "Our parents should not, because of this allegation, assume
that our buildings are unsafe and that there are vile things going on
in our school buildings," she said. WEWS said the boy told police that
he tried to tell a teacher about what happened, but was told, "No
tattletales." His grandmother found out after the 5-year-old told an
older brother about the rapes. The grandmother said that for the past
few months, the boy was complaining about going to school. He also had
trouble sleeping, had stomachaches and had become withdrawn. Experts
said those are just some of the signs of sexual abuse. "When there is
any sudden change, you want to find out what's going on," said Dr.
Lolly McDavid, a pediatrician at Rainbow Babies and Children's
Hospital. "I think this grandmother (was) perceptive, to realize
something was wrong and that it really did need attention." The
juvenile suspects are in detention and are awaiting trial.
